Qualifications:
1. Valid South Carolina Certification as a vocational director or secondary principal required.
2. Minimum of three years successful experience as a career center director/assistant
director or secondary principal preferred.
3. Minimum of three years successful teaching experience at a career/technology center,
high school, or middle school required.
4. Extensive knowledge of career and technical trends, best practices, curriculum,
instructional programming, assessment, and state/federal accountability requirements.
5. Demonstrated history of implementing innovative programs and practices.
6. Proven track record of success in:
- Selecting, developing, and leading school staff to high performance.
- Achieving significant student academic success and development.
- Providing a safe, orderly school climate.
- Building and maintaining staff collegiality and teamwork.
- Building and maintaining effective parent, community, and business/industry relationships.
- Managing school budgets and operations effectively.
- Demonstrating superior interpersonal skills with school and non-school stakeholders.
- Implementing effective career orientation and guidance initiatives.
7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board and Superintendent may deem
appropriate.
