QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid teacher's certificate in Secondary education, reading, or math preferred.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Five years of teaching experience required.
- Must be able to work well with teachers, parents, students, and administrators.
- Must possess extensive knowledge of South Carolina Standards, best practices, and educational research and experts.
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
REPORTS TO: School Principal
JOB GOAL: To assist staff in providing students with a comprehensive curricular program.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitors curriculum and instruction to ensure alignment with district, state, and national standards.
- Reviews and analyzes state test scores. Benchmark scores, and Culminating Assessments.
- Coordinates, assists and/or administers school wide testing and assessments such as Benchmarks, State Assessments, End-Of-Course tests, and SCRA.
- Collaborates with all coaches and administrators on all test data and goals.
- Assists the principal in test analysis and the instructional plan to include instructional goal setting for the school.
- Designs questions/ test analysis goals for teachers and report results for the school to the district instructional division.
- Designs and implements strategies to improve instruction as related to standards through the use of model lessons, staff trainings, and/or organizing staff development sessions.
- Guides the staff in remaining focused on the school and district goals for instruction.
- Reviews long range plans, lesson plans, pacing charts, class profiles, and student work for the purpose of assisting teachers with instruction.
- Observes in classrooms daily and provide feedback and suggestions to teachers promptly. Report strengths and weaknesses to principal in a non-evaluative role.
- Communicates a variety of instructional techniques to teachers and model lessons for the staff.
- Monitors unit plan implementation and the SIP process.
- Oversees the academic plan process for the school by providing assistance and training to teachers as needed.
- Attends district staff development sessions related to instruction and disseminate knowledge and information to the staff.
- Works with others consistently in a cooperative and respectful manner.
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principal or Chief Academic Officer.
TERMS: 205 Days. The Division of Personnel will establish salary and work year
based upon the recommendation and approval by the Superintendent and the Board of Trustees.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in compliance with the Board’s policy on evaluation and professional personnel.
